The DMU-60 is specially manufactured for the segmenting of onions into 2 or 4 pieces. The product is manually positioned by one or two persons. The machine is free standing with a modular conveyor belt with raised onion holders, and a segmenting unit with knife block. The machine is driven by frequency controlled motors and the control is done by encoders and PLC. The conveyor belt with the four rows of holders is driven with a frequency controlled motor, provided with an encoder, and accurately positions the onions under the segmenting knives. The encoder-controlled drive of the segmenting knives controls the forward indexing of the product 2 rows at a time. It is possible to provide the left and right side of the knife block with different knives. This enables halving in two rows and cutting in four segments in the other two rows. The segmenting unit can be switched off, so that the machine can be used as a conveyor.
